Merry Mates Conditions of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By purchasing a ticket for any of Merry Mates’ playgroups, including Messy Sensory Play and Play with Cars!, or by booking us for private events, you agree to the following Conditions of Service. These terms apply to all attendees and participants of any event organized by Merry Mates.

2. Parent/Guardian Responsibility

• Supervision: Parents or legal guardians are solely responsible for the supervision of their children at all times during the event or playgroup. This includes ensuring the child’s safety and well-being while participating in the activities. Merry Mates staff are present to facilitate the activities but are not responsible for individual supervision of any child.

• Risk Awareness: You understand that certain risks are involved with playgroup activities, and by attending, you voluntarily assume those risks. Parents or guardians must assess whether the activities are suitable for their child based on the child’s abilities and temperament.

 

3. Inherent Risks

While Merry Mates strives to provide a safe and enjoyable environment, certain activities carry inherent risks. These include, but are not limited to:

Messy Sensory Play

• Slipping and Falling: Messy Sensory Play often involves the use of water, slime, sand, clay, and other tactile elements, which can create slippery surfaces. Children may be at risk of slipping, falling, or otherwise injuring themselves.

• Allergic Reactions: Some materials used in Messy Sensory Play (e.g., paint, chalk, or clay) could cause skin irritation or allergic reactions. Parents are responsible for checking the materials used and should notify staff of any known allergies prior to the event.

• Choking Hazards: Small sensory objects may be included as part of the activities, posing a potential choking risk for younger children. Parents must monitor their child’s interaction with materials closely.

Play with Cars!

• Physical Injury: The Play with Cars! playgroup includes the use of die-cast toy cars, remote-controlled cars, ride-on cars, and other battery-operated systems. While these activities are designed for children’s enjoyment, they can lead to accidental collisions, falls, or other physical injuries.

• Ride-on Vehicles: Children may engage in activities involving ride-on cars or roller coasters. Though these are age-appropriate, children may be at risk of minor injuries such as bumps, bruises, or falls.

• Remote-Controlled Cars: The Play with Cars! arena includes remote-controlled vehicles. These cars may move unpredictably, potentially leading to accidents with children or equipment.

 

4. Waiver of Liability

By attending any Merry Mates playgroup or event, you agree to waive, release, and discharge Merry Mates, its employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or costs related to injuries, accidents, or incidents occurring during participation. This includes, but is not limited to, injuries resulting from:

• Slips, trips, or falls

• Use of equipment, including remote-controlled cars, die-cast cars, ride-on vehicles, and play mats

• Allergic reactions to materials used in the activities

• Any harm resulting from interactions with other children during the playgroup

You acknowledge that Merry Mates cannot guarantee complete safety and that any participation in the playgroups is at your own risk.

 

5. Medical Emergencies

In the case of a medical emergency, Merry Mates staff will seek immediate medical assistance. Parents or guardians must ensure that their child’s medical information (allergies, medications, or other relevant health conditions) is disclosed in advance. However, Merry Mates is not liable for any medical costs or further treatment that may be required as a result of injuries incurred during the event.

 

6. Photography and Media Consent

During Merry Mates playgroups, photographs or videos may be taken to promote future events. By attending, you consent to the use of any images or recordings of your child for marketing purposes. If you prefer that your child not be photographed or recorded, please notify our staff in writing prior to the event.

 

7. Refund and Cancellation Policy

Merry Mates reserves the right to cancel or reschedule any playgroup due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, participants will be notified as soon as possible, and a full refund or alternative booking option will be provided. Refunds for tickets purchased will only be issued in the event of cancellation by Merry Mates.

 

8. Code of Conduct

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, we ask that both parents and children adhere to the following guidelines:

• Respect the instructions provided by Merry Mates staff.

• Be considerate of other attendees, ensuring that all children have an equal opportunity to participate.

• Ensure that children do not engage in any behaviour that could endanger themselves or others.

Merry Mates reserves the right to remove any participant from the event who does not adhere to these guidelines.

 

9. Changes to Terms

Merry Mates reserves the right to modify these Conditions of Service at any time. Any changes will be communicated to ticket holders in advance of their next event.
